Confession: I'm writing this today from my bed with a 'cosy juice' and a shit load of strepsils cos - you've guessed it - I am smoring with the cold (in the height of summer - what are the odds!).
And it’s reminded me (again) that even with all the planning, passion and productivity hacks in the world – we’re human. We get ill. Our plans go to shit. We curl up with tissues, plonk the kids in front of the telly and feel a bit sorry for ourselves.
But here’s the difference…
A cold? I’ll be over it in a few days (here's hoping🤞🏻)
But burnout? Not so much.
Burnout doesn’t clear up with a couple of paracetamol and a nap.
It creeps in quietly. It lingers. It drains the joy out of things you used to love.
And worst of all? You can look fine on the outside while feeling completely hollow on the inside.
I’ve been there. And I’ve seen so many brilliant women trying to push through it, pretending they’re okay because they don’t know how to stop.
